Description
There's nothing faster than the Tarmac SL8. The reason? The combination we've achieved between aerodynamics, lightness and a ride quality that until recently seemed impossible.
Eight generations later and more than two decades in development, it's not just the fastest Tarmac ever: it's also the fastest race bike in the world.
Competitions are not won by aerodynamics or lightness alone: it is speed that counts. And to achieve it, you have to create an uncompromising combination of aerodynamics, lightness, rigidity and comfort.
Our Ride Science team simulated races with real-world data and found the Tarmac SL8 to be the fastest road bike ever made on the major roads: 16.6 seconds faster over 40km, 128 seconds faster on the Milan San Remo and 20 seconds faster on the legendary Tourmalet climb.

100% AERO: We’ve put aero elements where they’re needed, not just where they look good. And with that, we’ve created our most aerodynamic road bike ever. Yes, more so than the Venge. The Speed Sniffer, the Tarmac’s new tapered design, optimizes clean air for maximum advantage. By moving the head tube back (which determines the head tube angle), the leading edge of the head tube is much sharper and the resulting shape has much less aerodynamic drag. Taking advantage of new UCI rules, the Tarmac SL8 has the narrowest, most aerodynamic seatpost we’ve ever made, so dirty air around your legs flows cleaner back. Winning tastes sweet, right?
-
LOW WEIGHT, MAXIMUM AERODYNAMICS:Drawing on lessons learned from the Aethos, the Tarmac SL8 is designed to meet minimum UCI requirements while still offering a 100% aero build. The team created an incredible 685-gram frame – 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other frame on the World Tour*. We also applied what we learned from the Aethos to prioritize lightweight downtube, seat tube, and tailpipe. The frame shape supports the load so efficiently that there’s no need for extra carbon layers. *Unless you count the time Kasper Asgreen rode our 585-gram Aethos frame on a stage of the Tour de France.

RIDES LIKE A ROCKET, HANDS LIKE A GOODBYE: With an optimized stiffness-to-weight ratio (33% better than the SL7), the Tarmac SL8 delivers legendary handling, aggressive response, and world-proven geometry that’s next-level. The bike is stiffer on the pedals, more precise on the bars, and more comfortable in the saddle—so much so that it sets a new standard for race bike comfort. Thanks to our Rider-First Engineering, all riders, regardless of size, can enjoy ride quality and control never before seen. In the saddle, the Tarmac SL8 offers 6% more comfort—floating over rough terrain and offering a plushness that’s rare in the demanding world of race bikes. The Tarmac’s geometry and 32mm tire clearance are identical to the SL7, ensuring easy adaptation and the ability to run larger tires when needed.

BEYOND GENDER: There are more differences between two male riders than between a man and a woman. Gender alone is not enough to be the only factor when designing a bike. That's why creating bikes just for men or women is a thing of the past. All riders can enjoy the benefits of the Tarmac SL8. It's time to go Beyond Gender.
- The S-Works Tarmac SL8 is built with the very best components. It comes with a full Shimano Dura-Ace 9200 Di2 groupset with dual-sided power meter and a set of tubeless-compatible Roval Rapide CLX II wheels that perfectly complement the world’s fastest frame. All S-Works Tarmac SL8 models also feature a Roval Rapide cockpit, designed to reduce weight and provide the most aerodynamic leading edge possible.
